I know it's probably not that important, but hey, I'm having a bit of a moment here!
You see, I spend the last few months by carefully plotting what I will be writing about for this year NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). I've carefully picked that I will be writing a fanfic, with Dragon Age/Mass Effect crossover, endlessly mused about characters I will use, thought about catchy titles for the chapters, stocked up on coffee...
Only to have it leave me with one hell of a writer's block, as well as very limited amount of time I could spend on my novel that I generously named "Vanquish and Destroy".
The recommended amount of words written per day is 1667 - I managed to type that many words on second or third day, meaning that I haven't even started yet and already was behind in what I should write. I felt like such a failure!
So many others were already high above the recommended amounts of words, some already nearly fisnihed with the 50k line, and I was struggling with my barely 13k.
And then I got on the typing spree.
Believe me, going to sleep around midnight for several days in a row, because you just couldn't stop typing is bad for you health. But bloody good for your novel, if you know what I mean
It still felt like quite a non-win scenario, that during the last day, I would have to type over 7k words to finish on time. Yep, I was like
, too. But imagine - my personal Kobayashi Maru had been defeated, and now I'm one of the lucky folks who finished in time!
That was actually one of the reasons why all my other works had been put on hold - my ST2009!AU series names "Best Served Cold", my DAO!series named "The One", all the various kink meme fills I had been working on... But now, I'm back, even if I will be reworking my NaNo, as I post it on my Archive of Our Own profile.
Oh, that reminds me - please, start of shameless plug!Vanquish and Destroy - ME/DAO novel.
End of shameless plug.
Hope everyone is doing alright, with their lives being nice and themselves staying strong
